Enrolment Procedure

INTRODUCTION

Trinity is a College for families.  Prospective parents/carers and students are encouraged to visit and discuss their educational requirements and interests.

The College offers educational opportunities for students from Years 7 to 12 with entry at Year 7 level.  Places in other Years depend upon vacancies occurring.

Enrolment enquiries are made initially to the College Registrar who can be contacted by telephone on (02) 6627 6622.

OVERVIEW OF ENROLMENT PROCESS FOR ALL YEARS

A) APPLICATION

An Enrolment Application Form needs to be completed for each student seeking a place at Trinity. (This is obtained from the College Registrar)

Students applying for entry and their parents/carers are required to attend an Enrolment Interview with the Deputy Principal and / or College Registrar to discuss the College's educational philosophy, policies and procedures.

B) INTERVIEW

Interviews are held during the year in response to application for Years 8,10 and 12. Although interviews for prospective Year 7, Year 9 and Year 11 students are held during the year as required, a specific interview period is set aside at the following times:

Year 7 - Term 2 commencing with an Open Night in May followed by Enrolment Interviews in early June.  Details of the Open Night and Interview Day are advertised in the local media and noted on this site.

Information Night for successful applicants  in November.

Orientation Day for successful applicants for Year 7 2010 - November. Students to meet at the TSC at 8.50 am wearing their Year 6 Sports Uniform. Students to bring a hat, swimmers and a towel, paper and pen. BBQ lunch supplied. Free bus travel on most school routes - parents to confirm with bus service provider.

Year 9 - Term 3 commencing with an Elective Selection Evening in August followed by Enrolment Interviews in August.  Details of the Elective Selection Evening are noted on this site.

Places for Year 9 2010 mailed to applicants in early September 2009.

Year 11 - Term 3 commencing with a Course Selection Evening in late July, followed by Enrolment Interviews in August.  Details of the Course Selection Evening are noted on this site.

Places for new and returning Year 11 students for 2010 mailed to applicants in September.

New students will be contacted in regard to their final subject allocation in early Term 4.

THE FOLLOWING IS TO BE BROUGHT TO THE ENROLMENT INTERVIEW:

  • Completed and signed Enrolment Application form
  • Photocopy of Baptismal Certificate (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of Birth Certificate
  • Photocopy of most recent School Report
  • Completed Confidential Enrolment Information Form
  • Year 5,Year 7 or Year 9 NAPLAN results (most recent report)
  • Any Medical Reports (if applicable)
  • Passport size photo of student applicant

C) OFFER OF A PLACE

Enrolment places are offered in accordance with the priority criteria outlined in the Enrolment Policy, in conjunction with the number of places available in each Year Group.  Formal notification that the student is enrolled at the College is posted when the appropriate documents and procedures have been finalised.

In determining enrolment at Trinity Catholic College the following criteria are taken into consideration in determination of a priority:

  • Catholic students in Catholic Schools.
  • Catholic students in other schools.
  • Siblings of students at the College.
  • Non Catholic students not attending a Catholic School.

*     Students whose names have been placed on the College Registry  receive priority within their category.

Criteria, other than the above, will be used to determine a priority at the discretion of the Deputy Principal / Principal.

D) ACCEPTANCE

The parents/carers are required to sign an Acceptance Form agreeing to the policies and procedures outlined in the Enrolment Interview.   For Year 7 applicants for the following year a non refundable $350.00 Acceptance Fee is payable.   This is deducted from the Term 1 Fee.

Students commencing at the beginning of an academic year will attend a half day Orientation Morning held on the same day that Year 7 students commence.  Details are mailed to successful applicants during Term 4 of the preceding year.

Students commencing during the academic year go the SMS Office on their first morning for an Orientation followed by attendance at classes with a buddy.

ENROLMENT PROCESS FOR YEAR 6 into 7

The Enrolment process for Year 7 begins in May of the year prior to entry, while the student is in Year 6 and consists of the following steps:

OPEN NIGHT  -  mONDAY, 18th May, 2009

6.00 pm - Family BBQ

6.30 pm- Meeting TSC Hall

  • Enrolment Package distributed
  • Opportunity to view College Facilities
  • Department Interactive and static Displays
  • Performance by Creative Arts
  • Booking Enrolment Interview

Evening Departure - 8.30 pm

INTERVIEW DAY  -   Sunday, 31st May, 2009

(St Joseph's Site, Leycester Street, Lismore)

  • Completed Application for Enrolment Form
  • Passport size Photograph
  • Completed School Passport
  • Completed Confidential Student Background Survey
  • Copies of Baptism/Reconciliation/Eucharist/Confirmation Certificate
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Medical History if necessary
  • $60.00 non refundable Enrolment Fee
  • Photocopy of Year 5 Basic Skills Test
  • Photocopy of last School Report

The Enrolment process for Year 11 begins in Term 2 of the year prior to entry, while the student is in Year 10 and consists of the following steps:

  • The Principal address to Year 10 students
  • Distribution of Re-Enrolment package
  • Distribution of Senior Student Handbook
  • Course Information Sessions

INFORMATION EVENING  AND SUBJECT DISPLAYS - wednesday, 5th august 2009

New Enrolment enquiries welcome to attend

  • Heads of Department and Department Staff available to discuss Year 11 Subjects and Displays
  • Enrolment Application packages available for new student applicants
  • Opportunity to schedule Year 10 into Year 11 interview
