Trinity Vinnies

St Vincent de Paul Groups have been operating at Trinity for about ten years. There have been both Junior and Senior Conferences. Meetings occur at Recess or Lunchtime on a regular basis and involve prayer, discussion of previous minutes, planning of future projects and general support of members.

The Junior Group, or Conference as it is known, comprises students mainly in Years 7 and 8. Their main work has been raising awareness and supporting various needs within the community, especially gathering clothing for the Vinnies Winter Appeal; raising funds through cake stalls , pizza drives and ‘milk bottle cash-for-cap' collections for various community projects like the Breast Cancer Appeal and ‘Movember' Appeals.

The Senior Conference, comprising late year 9, Year 10, 11 and 12 students  also meet regularly and train to run ‘Buddies Days ‘and ‘Kidz Kamps'. ‘Buddies Days' are held at least twice a year and these are ‘activities' days for children from across the Richmond Region. ‘Kidz Kamps ‘are extended weekends of activities, once again with children from 8 to 12 Years. Senior members also attend Formation Weekends to extend their skills and to meet other youth from across the Diocese under the direction of the Diocesan Vinnies Youth Co-ordinator and the young adult leadership team. Senior Vinnies also involve themselves in fund-raising and awareness -raising activities for various needs within the community. Major events are the Easter Chocolate Raffle, Winter Clothing Appeal, and Christmas Hamper Appeals. At times there are special fund-raising events like the Heavenly Angels Appeal to support East Timorese Youth and the ‘Movember' and Breast Cancer Appeals.
